Brewers Rice
Small pieces of rice kernel left over from milling, used for energy.
Brewers rice is the small pieces of kernel separated when rice is milled. They’re named for their use in brewing. It’s the same starch as white rice, without the bran and with less fibre and fewer vitamins than whole grain. It’s a byproduct in AAFCO’s sense, meaning a secondary product of making something else, which doesn’t make it unsafe or nutritionally poor.
