Fat or oil
Coconut Oil
A saturated plant fat, used for energy, flavour and texture.
Coconut oil is mostly saturated fat, including medium-chain fats that the body handles differently from other fats. It supplies energy and helps give foods and treats their texture. It adds almost none of the essential fats that dogs and cats need, so it can’t replace other oils.
It’s often promoted for skin, coat and brain, but good studies in healthy pets are few. It’s high in calories, so ask your veterinarian before adding it on top of a complete food.
