Dried Enterococcus Faecium Fermentation Product
A live bacterium added as a probiotic, one of the better studied in pets.
Enterococcus faecium is a bacterium added as a probiotic, and “dried fermentation product” is how labels name it. One strain, SF68, has been tested: in a shelter study, fewer cats given it had diarrhoea lasting two days or more. No difference was detected in dogs, though diarrhoea was uncommon in them either way.
That result belongs to that strain at that dose. A label that lists the species without the strain or amount isn’t promising the same thing, and cooking can kill live bacteria unless they’re added after. Ask your veterinarian if your pet has a gut condition.
