Glycerin

A sweet, syrupy liquid that keeps soft treats and chews moist.

Glycerin holds on to water. That’s why soft treats, jerky and semi-moist foods use it: it keeps them soft without needing refrigeration. It tastes slightly sweet, it’s recognized as safe in animal feed, and the body can use it for energy.

In soft treats it can be one of the main ingredients. It supplies calories, so count treats as part of the day’s food.
