Potato Starch

Purified starch, used to bind and thicken and for energy.

Starch from potatoes, rice or corn is an almost pure carbohydrate. It helps kibble hold together, and it thickens the gravy in wet foods, supplying energy but little else: the protein, fibre and most of the vitamins of the original plant are gone.

It’s easy to digest once cooked. Its presence doesn’t say much about a food on its own.

Also written as: Rice Starch, Corn Starch, Cornstarch, Modified Corn Starch, Modified Food Starch.
