Dried Beet Pulp
A fibre source: what's left of sugar beets after the sugar is extracted.
Beet pulp is what remains after sugar is taken from sugar beets. Despite the name it’s not a source of sugar, and it’s one of the most studied fibres in pet food. It ferments moderately, which feeds gut bacteria without causing loose stools at usual levels, and it helps form stools.
It’s sometimes called a filler online. A review of fibre sources in pet food treats it as the usual reference against which others are compared.
