Mineral
Zinc Proteinate
Zinc bound to amino acids, a mineral needed for skin, coat and immunity.
Zinc is needed for skin and coat, wound healing and immune function. “Proteinate”, “amino acid chelate” and “amino acid complex” all mean zinc bound to amino acids or small proteins. AAFCO says these bound forms are thought to work better than inorganic compounds, though how much difference that makes in a complete food isn’t settled.
Diets rich in plant fibre and calcium can make zinc harder to absorb, which is one reason foods supply more than the bare need.
Also written as: Zinc Amino Acid Chelate, Zinc Amino Acid Complex, Zinc Methionine Complex, Zinc Polysaccharide Complex.
