Cranberries
A tart fruit often added with urinary health in mind, though evidence in pets is slim.
Cranberries are often added with urinary health in mind, because they contain compounds that may stop some bacteria from sticking to the urinary tract. Evidence in pets is thin. In a small study of eight dogs given a food with cranberry extract, urine from the four females reduced bacterial adhesion in a lab test, and urine from the males did not.
That’s a lab measure in a few dogs, not proof that it prevents infections. A pet with urinary signs needs a veterinarian, not a change of food. The list runs by weight, so where it sits tells you roughly how much there is. Well down the list, the amount is small.
